Susan Belloc Taylor

After high school I went to Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fl. for two years after which time I moved to Charlotte, N.C. and worked in the medical field until I met a great fella on a blind date ( James E. Taylor... hows that for a great name)... and married him. He was a Senior at Georgia Tech so after our marriage I moved to Atlanta and we set up housekeeping for his Senior year. He graduated with a double degree in Engineering... (but I'm the handy one... and can fix almost anything).

In any case after graduation we moved to Caruthersville, Mo. and lived there for 5 years while he worked within the family businesses. We had two beautiful children, Tate born in 1965 and a daughter Joy born in 1967. About that time James E. "nick name... Wick" decided that he wanted to go to medical school....[ now remember at this juncture he is 30 years old] so off we went with two small babies for a year of Pre-med at Gainesville. Fl. After that we moved to Kansas City, Mo. where Wick went to Medical School for 4 years... [ Loved Kansas City.... was a great city!!! ]

After he graduated we moved to Largo, Florida where Wick did an Internship and Residency in Radiology. We lived in and around the Clearwater/ Largo area for 35 years until Wick retired... then we moved to Dunnellon, Florida where we had previously built a weekend home on the Withloccdia River ( that is a mouthful) and retired full time. About 2 1/2 years ago we decided that we wanted to get off the river and purchased a small horse farm in north Dunnellon... which is just south of Ocala, Fl. "the horse capital of the world". We now have 12.5 acres of beautiful rolling and Oak treed land which we absolutely love... then Wick again decided that he was restless, so he is now back working three days a week at a "Langley" a Government Medical Clinic south of where we live in Sumpterville, Fl. as their Radiologist. He loves it!!

Let me reflect upon my two children. Tate and Joy went to school in Clearwater, Fl. and both attended and graduated from University of Florida. Tate also went to Law School at Florida.... was the President of his fraternity and President of "Blue Key"... Joy was President of her sorority and President of the Panhellenic Council then she went onto get her MBA at South Florida in Tampa. Both of our children are very successful professionals. Tate working as a Tax Attorney in Tampa, Fl. and Joy owning her own Consulting Firm in PA. Both are married and each have four children ( can you believe I have "8" grandchildren... Wow). OK, OK enough boasting from me!!!

I have lived a very busy lifestyle, discovering that although I wasn't much of a student in High School , I LOVED MY COLLEGE CLASSES. I was a Business Major and a Music Minor ( weird combo I know... but yes I still sing and have for past these 50 years). I sold Real Estate in Clearwater, Fl. for 25 years, owned my own Real Estate firm and was politically involved within the Real Estate profession the whole time, as a Broker, Mortgage Broker, etc. I retired in 1990 and haven't looked back... Now I keep myself busy with the farm and my responsibilities as the President of the local Woman's Club ( try keeping 85 ladies happy!!!... raising my children was easier!!!)

Wick and I have had busy schedules, but as we celebrate our 47 year of marriage (can't believe that one!!) we've enjoyed traveling many times to Europe; we love Scotland and go every other year to go pheasant hunting. We've been to Africa on Safari... what an experience.....!!! and so much more..... I have been blessed and am thankful everyday for my good fortune.

Now as we enter the "twilight years" as they say.... we all reflect on what has come before... as for me, I have wonderful fond memories of our "high school" years and look forward to seeing each and everyone of you at the reunion. Thanks for the chance to share my last 50 years.... they were busy, but interesting and never dull!!!

See you all in October.
