Carol Sullivan Cowan

Upon graduation from Sarasota High School I went to Syracuse, NY to further my education in business and accounting.

Upon returning I went to work for the Field Club of Sarasota as the bookkeeper. After three years I went to work for EMR in the accounting department. Three years later I moved to Atlanta where I began a career with Delta Airlines in the airfreight accounting department. I then transferred to Jacksonville and worked reservations for Delta.

While in Jacksonville I met my husband, Bruce Cowan, while he was serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La. We married in May 1970 in Sarasota then moved to Portland, OR as Bruce was a partner for Oregon Drapery. After one year we returned to Sarasota where Bruce became a decorator for Bedspread and Drapery Shop.

In 1985 we opened our own business, Pillow Talk of Sarasota. We have two beautiful children, Tammi and Eric and five grandchildren. Bruce passed away in May 2001 from cancer.

I enjoy life and fill my time volunteering at the local elementary schools, the Boy Scouts of America and traveling to visit my kids and grandchildren. I feel extremely fortunate that we were able to travel most of the United States and expose my family to the joys and wonder of this great country. Bruce and I were also privileged to travel abroad to most of Europe.

Congratulations to all for our 50th reunion...hard to believe we have come this far!

Carol's father, John Sullivan, played in the success of the Sailors Circus. Mr. Sullivan was in on the original plans and he and Mrs. Sullivan were always there for all of us kids back then. You may remember he was one of the original owners and founder of the Circus Hall of Fame that was located near the airport.
